Winter, in many places, is the coldest and driest season of the year. The cold temperatures cause people to stay inside more often, where it’s warm. During winter there is also an increase in sickness and vulnerability to viruses and bacteria. The same is true when you are in a spiritual winter season, you may feel spiritually cold and dry, which makes you more vulnerable to spiritual attack and being infected with spiritual viruses and bacteria. But, don’t despair. The spiritual coldness and dryness that you feel is the Holy Spirit prompting you to draw closer to Him and allow His warmth to permeate your soul, give you life, and strengthen and rekindle you. When you draw close to God, He will draw close to you. Regardless of what you have experienced, God can use your winter season to ignite your passion for Him and His word, and restore your joy.

Prayer:

Dear Father God,

Thank You Lord for the coldness and dryness of my winter season. I know that it is a time for me to draw close to You Lord, and that in doing so, You will draw close to me. I ask that You would protect me from all of the spiritual viruses and bacteria that seek to invade my mind, heart, body, and soul during this season of vulnerability. I trust You completely Lord to use my winter season to ignite my passion for You and Your Word, and to restore my joy. And I praise You Lord, that in faith, these things are already done.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all Thy works.

Psalm 73:28

Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

James 4:8

Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation; and uphold me with Thy free spirit.

Psalm 51:12
