One Step

August 18, 2024

2 Timothy 1:7

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Matthew 17:20

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Psalms 37:5

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.

God has given you something specific to do, and it’s tied to your God-given purpose. You know it’s been pressing on your mind and soul for some time now. You think about it, dream about it, you hear or see something about it that ignites your passion for that something. But you continue to go about your day, week, month, year and never pursue it. Or you start, then stop, start, then stop.

Well, it’s been said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Aren’t you glad that the journey of one mile doesn’t begin with one thousand steps?  Thank God that it’s not that way! What a blessing that your journey to your God-given success begins with just one step. Just one. With those kinds of odds, why would you not take that step?

Some reasons for the delay in taking that one step may be fear, doubt, insecurity, and distractions. These are tactics that the enemy uses to keep you stuck and prevent you from achieving success. They keep you on the ground instead of flying and soaring to new heights. Fear, doubt, and insecurity suck your confidence, and distractors keep you preoccupied with meaningless things that take you away from your purpose. These tactics keep you from taking that all-important one step.

But thank God that we serve a God who specializes in removing fear, doubt, insecurity, and distractions! The God we serve can turn your one step into a whole journey of success. The God we serve can take your one little step and multiply it exponentially. He can take your one little step and turn it into more than you ever dreamed possible because little becomes much when you place it in the Master’s hands.

What’s also powerful about your one step is that it doesn’t even have to be a big step. It can be a baby step. It can be an itsy, bitsy, tiny step. Just step! Step out on faith in God. The Lord said all you need is faith in Him the size of a mustard seed to move a mountain. Trust and believe that your one step can also be small when you commit your way to the Lord. So go ahead and ask God for His guidance and take that one step toward your journey of success in and for the Lord. You’ll be so glad you did, and you’ll be so amazed at how far you will go.

Prayer:

Dear Father God,

Thank You, LORD, for the opportunity to step into our God-given purpose. Lord, yielding our lives to You is the most crucial step that we can take. So, first, we pray that everyone who hears this message and has yet to take that all-important step will do so right now by confessing their sins to You, accepting Your invitation to come into their lives, and committing to a personal relationship with You. Lord, we acknowledge that we can only reach our full potential when we live a life devoted to serving You. Now, Lord, You have given each of us something specific to do. We are sorry, Lord, that we have allowed things such as fear, doubt, insecurity, and distractions to prevent us from completing the specific tasks that You have given us. Lord, we come to You today asking for holy boldness and divine energy to take that one step on our God-purposed journey. And after we take that one step, we ask for consistency to keep stepping toward and into our divine destinations. Lord, You said all we need is faith the size of a mustard seed to move mountains. Lord, we are asking that with just one beginning small step and faith in You, we can not only move mountains but also complete our journey no matter how difficult the terrain. We praise You, Lord, in faith that it’s already done and give You all the glory due Your mighty name for helping each person praying this prayer to take that one step toward their success in You.

In Jesus’ most holy and precious name, we pray, we love and thank You Lord,

Amen
