In the story of Joseph, after his brothers cruelly and unconscionably sold him into slavery, Joseph was sent to prison based on the lies of Potiphar’s wife. But God turned the evil that was meant for Joseph into good. Amid Joseph’s turmoil, God gave him favor with the keeper of the prison, which led to Joseph being elevated to a high position even in prison. Eventually Joseph would become the second in command of Egypt, all for God’s divine master plan.
Favor is the granting of support, kindness, approval, or preferential treatment to someone. It could be based on a liking for that person or because of something that they did. That is natural favor. Divine favor, however, is very different than natural favor. Divine favor is when God singles someone out for special treatment according to His divine plan.
When God gives you favor, it may be in the middle of the very situation that was meant for your bad. When God gives you favor, He may do so in the presence of your enemies, as He did with the children of Israel in the midst of the Egyptians. But do know that when God gives you favor, it’s not always because something bad was done to you. Instead, God may grant you favor when you are the one who did the bad thing. Yet God in His unmatched mercy and grace, grants you favor, anyhow.
When God gives you favor, He touches the hearts of men to give you what He has reserved for you, all as part of His divine plan. People won’t even understand why they are doing what they are doing. But they do it because God is in control, and they are compelled to act by God Almighty. When God gives you favor, you know there’s no way that thing could’ve happened without God. So, live for the Lord and trust Him with your whole heart – when you do, you will be amazed how God will bless you with divine favor as you have never, ever seen before.
Prayer:
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord for Your divine favor that You grant us in various situations of our lives. Lord, we don’t know how, when, or why You do what You do. We don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. But Lord, we recognize that You are God, Alpha and Omega, and You have a divine plan for our lives that fits into Your master plan. Father God, I pray right now that You will grant divine favor to someone who hears this message and is going through something on their job, going to court, applying for a loan, dealing with a personal issue or other situations that they don’t even know are on the horizon. Lord, I ask that You touch the hearts and minds of all those who are involved in the matter. Lord, I ask for Your divine intervention that someone will be granted divine favor on this week and in the weeks to follow, in the mighty name of Jesus. I ask that You turn that situation completely around Lord and use what was meant for that person’s bad, for good, for Your glory and Your honor Lord. And as we live for You, increase our faith in You O mighty God, and let our eyes behold Your blessed wonder as the God of divine favor.
