The actions of toxic people towards others are generally abusive. Toxic people may be outright in their abuse such as yelling, screaming, name calling, and put downs, or they may be more subtle such as withholding contact or ignoring you when you don’t allow them to control you, because most toxic people are extremely controlling. It is not God’s will that any of His children be enslaved to another by being beholden to their toxic/abusive ways. God’s thoughts towards you are good: those of peace, not evil, and that you would prosper in all things. Surround yourself only with people who want the same things for you as God. When dealing with toxic people it is imperative to be controlled by the Spirit. You may be tempted to react to their toxicity. But don’t be reactive, be proactive. Don’t meet force with force. Always take the high road and let your thoughts be those that are pleasing to the Lord.

Dear Father God,

Thank You Lord for the good thoughts that You have towards me. I know that it is necessary to surround myself only with people who think towards me as You do. Lord I ask that You would help me to be controlled by Your Holy Spirit, for it is then that I know I will act, or in the case of no contact, think towards toxic/abusive people in a way that is pleasing to You, and always take the high road.

In Jesus name I pray,

Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

Ecclesiastes 7:9

He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

Proverbs 14:17

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Philippians 4:8
