Mark 5:25-28
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched His garment.
For she said, If I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole.
Philippians 3:1-14
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Life is hard. Plain and simple, life is hard. You make plans but your plans can never include all the unexpected details which will occur, and you can never plan for the unknown with all its complexities. What’s more, there is this dichotomy in life where we’re always battling, always fighting, because our spirit is always warring against our flesh. And at the same time, we’re battling spiritual forces. Yes, life is hard.
Interestingly, but not surprisingly, things seem to get even more challenging when you’re trying to accomplish God’s will for your life. Trying to walk in your purpose can feel much like pressing your way through a crowd of people, as the woman in the Bible with the issue of blood. She knew she wanted something, needed something that only Jesus could give. So, despite the crowd pressing in on her, she reached forth her hand as far as she could as she pressed her way through the crowd, and she did this until she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment (Matthew 20-22). In her faith, touching just the hem of Jesus’ garment was enough to make her whole and her desire was granted.
We must have that same fortitude when trying to achieve our plans, dreams, goals, and purpose. Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
As you try to accomplish that which you are called to do, you must forget any and everything that can get in the way of you achieving your goals and your purpose. What happened last year, last month, last week, or the last time, forget it. You must take advantage of every second as a new opportunity. Reach forth with all your might toward Jesus, the One who holds that which you desire, the One who holds that which you need to accomplish His will for your life. You must reach and press your way despite the obstacles. Even when you feel like you’re surrounded with a sea of forces pressing in on you, reach forth and press your way through the challenges. Reach forth and press your way to Jesus. No matter how difficult keep reaching and keep pressing, in faith, and you will seize what the Lord has before you. You will grow closer to Him and go deeper in His will for your life.
Prayer:
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord for Your divine strength that propels us forward in accomplishing Your will for our lives. Despite all the obstacles, Lord You have given us the ability to reach forth and press on to achieve our goals that are in alignment with You. Lord, help us to truly forget those things which can hold us back from achieving our goals and to recognize that You have more for us, as long as we don’t give up. Increase our faith and strength Lord and help us by Your Holy Spirit to keep reaching and to keep pressing toward the mark for the prize of Your high calling in Christ Jesus.
In Jesus name we pray, thank You Lord
Amen
