Boundaries are necessary for many reasons. A boundary line defines the limits between geographical locations, giving cities, counties, and states. Boundaries are necessary for legal agreements. And boundaries are necessary in relationships, especially those with toxic persons. Sometimes there’s a misinterpretation for the liberty that we have in Christ. You are to forgive, love, pray for, and do good to your enemies, who very well may be the toxic people in your life. But God gives you the liberty to protect yourself and in fact, that is your obligation to God and to yourself. You are precious to God and He wants only the best for you. If you do remain in contact with toxic persons, the Holy Spirit will show you what boundaries to set in dealing with them to protect yourself. The Holy Spirit will give you the strength and wisdom to maintain the boundaries, and He will give you the power to do it all operating in His Spirit and in His love.
Prayer:
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord for the liberty You have given me to set boundaries in protecting myself. I ask that You would guide me in setting those boundaries and that You would give me the needed strength and wisdom to operate in Your Spirit and in Your love. I praise You Lord for holy boldness.
