Too many times people are absorbed in other’s opinions of them. You may even be letting other’s opinions be your guiding force in how you see yourself, how you live your life, what you think, feel, and do. You may let others' opinions determine your dreams, which direction you go in life, and your next steps. You may value other’s opinions of you so much until you don’t even know who you are. You don’t know what you truly want in life because you are, unfortunately, preoccupied in what other people tell you is best for you. Sometimes, the very people you are listening to are vicariously living through other people like you because they are not who they want to be or didn’t achieve their dreams.
Some people may genuinely have your best interest at heart and mean well. But there are others who don’t mean you any good and aren’t really interested in helping you to achieve all that you can be. You can tell who those people are because the Holy Spirit will give you something in your spirit that just doesn’t sit right with you, or you don’t have a good feeling when you talk to them. You leave the conversation with more doubt than confidence, more confusion than clarity, more anxiety than peace. You begin to lose your self-awareness. Therefore, it’s crucial to know who you are and whose you are.
Know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Master Builder Himself, God Almighty. Know that You are a child of the Most High, the King of kings and Lord of lords. That makes you royalty. You’ve got to know who you are and whose you are in the Lord.
So, the next time you find yourself dealing with people whose opinions don’t matter, imagine yourself talking to them and asking them “Did you hang the moon in the sky? Do you make the sun to shine in the day? Did you give me life? Did you sacrifice your life so that I could be forgiven of my sins and have everlasting life? Did you conquer death and rise from the dead on the 3rd day and now sit at the right hand of God? No, oh then your opinion doesn’t matter?”. Even if you have to say it out loud to them, that’s OK. You just keep your focus on God, the One whose opinions about you and your life does matter, and matters the most, and watch your life begin to improve in untold ways.
Prayer:
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord for creating each of us as a unique masterpiece to serve You. Lord, help us to know who we are and whose we are in You. Help us to see that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that we are royalty because we are children of You Lord, the King of kings and Lord of lords. Father God, someone right now is confused, doubtful, fearful because they have lived for so long by other people’s standards. So much so, that they don’t even really recognize who they are and the power and strength that You have placed within them to do anything and be anything within Your will. Please free them right now Lord from that bondage and help them to see a brand-new person, ready and equipped to be all that they can be and that You created them to be. We thank You Lord for Your love, mercy, and continued grace that You have given to each of us.
In Jesus’ most holy and precious name we pray, we love You Lord
