Despite the commercialization of Christmas, there are ways to keep the focus on Jesus and keep Christ in Christmas. One way is by keeping Christ attached to the symbols used for Christmas. Two such symbol are the Christmas tree and Christmas lights. The Bible states that Jesus hung on a tree, referencing His crucifixion to save the world from sin. Christmas lights can be used to represent Jesus, the Light of the world. Combining the Christmas tree with Christmas lights is a beautiful way to symbolize Jesus, the Light of the world who hung on the tree (cross) so that all could have eternal life. So, the next time you see a Christmas tree decorated with Christmas lights, envision how Jesus the Light of the world gave His life for you, affording you the promise of eternal life. Allow the Light of Jesus to shine bright on any dark areas of your life, illuminating your soul, and making your world brighter than it could ever be without Him.
Prayer:
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord for sacrificing your life as you hung on the tree, in the form of the cross, to save me and the entire world from sin. Lord, this Christmas season and every day, I celebrate You being the Light of the world. Because of You, my world shines brighter than bright and I walk in the Light of Your incredible, amazing love. I ask that You flood my soul today with the Light of Your divine presence as I bask in Your divine light.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
Acts 5:30
Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 5:31
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: He that followeth Me
shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:12
