If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Last week’s message focused on being in tune with the Holy Spirit, walking with Him, being led of Him, and following Him, day by day, moment by moment. This is truly the only way to live a life dedicated to pleasing God, because you are seeking to be a servant of God, instead of a servant to your flesh. But how exactly do you know you’re in tune with the Holy Spirit?
In this message, we’ll go through four ways that you know you are walking in tune with the Holy Spirit: having clarity, peace, patience, and joy. The Holy Spirit gets our attention in many ways, some of which include directly speaking to us, putting something in our spirit such as a thought or an idea, and/or speaking to us through dreams and visions. But regardless of how the Holy Spirit gets our attention, one thing is for sure, because God is not the author of confusion, the Holy Spirit gives us clarity in clear guidance and instruction. He doesn’t waiver back and forth. So, if you are wavering, you need to stop and be still because that is not being in tune with the Holy Spirit.
You will have peace when you are in tune with the Holy Spirit. You will have peace in your mind, heart, spirit, soul, and body. You will have a calmness in your body without nervousness and anxiety. So, if you don’t have peace about that decision, that person in your life, what you’re preparing to do, what someone tells you to do, or any number of things, then you’re not in tune with the Holy Spirit.
When you are in tune with the Holy Spirit, you have patience. You don’t feel a sense of urgency about anything because you know that God has everything under His control, which is not subject to man’s ways or rules. You know what God has for you is for you and is also not subject to man’s timing. When you are in tune with the Holy Spirit, you have joy. This joy is divine and remains regardless of the situation. In fact, joy, peace, and patience are all fruits of the Spirit.
So, when faced with a decision or you’re going through something, ask yourself if you are in tune with the Holy Spirit before moving forward. Ask yourself if you have clarity, peace, patience, and joy. If the answer to any of these is No, stop, be still, pray, and fast if needed, until you are in tune with the Holy Spirit. You’ll be so glad that you did.
Prayer:
Dear Father God,
Thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit, our Comforter. Father God, we know that You want only the best for Your children. You want to save us from danger, things that will harm us, stifle us, and prevent us from being all that You created us to be. You wanted to save us from sin and our sinful nature that separates us from You. So, You gave us the Savior, in Your Son Jesus Christ, Who willingly gave His life for us to deliver us from our sins. Jesus, You came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. And because You live, we have the Holy Spirit to teach us in all things and remind us of all things that You have told us about in how to live a holy life in harmony with You. Holy Spirit help us to listen to You when You’re speaking, to trust what You are saying, and to follow where You are leading. Help us to stay in tune with You.
In Jesus’ most holy and precious name we pray, Thank You Lord,
Amen
