Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!
Psalms 107:31
He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.
Psalms 107:35
I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
Isaiah 41:18
Achsah was the daughter of Caleb, a prince of Judah, and the wife of Othniel. She demonstrated boldness when she asked Caleb to give her a blessing of land as it was not common in that day and time for women to even own land. Whatever land they might own was usually attained through marriage and passed to them if their husband died. However, Achsah courageously broke tradition when she asked her father to give her not only land, but springs of water as well.
Some Bible scholars believe that Achsah was greedy in her actions by asking for springs of water when she had already been given land. But actually, because of Caleb’s righteousness, he was promised land, not only for himself, but for his children as well- Joshua 14:6-14. So, what Achsah asked for had already been promised to her by God as a testament to God’s goodness, mercy, and grace. Furthermore, because Debir was a dry and barren land, it seems prudent that Achsah would ask her father to also bless her with springs so that the land could bring forth fruit and sustain her and her family.
Is there something that you want to do that's not customary? Are you standing on dry and barren land? Do you have any barren areas of your life that are in need of springs so that you can bring forth fruit for the Lord? You can use Achsah's life as an example. What God has for His children is not blocked by customs and tradition. And when you ask God according to His will, He will fill the dry areas of your life with springs of water so that You can bring forth fruit for Him.
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord that You are not a God of tradition. But, You evaluate each person according to their righteousness and You give gifts and blessings to whom You will according to Your grace and mercy. Lord I want to bring forth much fruit for You and so I ask that You show me any barren areas of my life that are in need of Your divine springs and fill those areas according to Your divine will. And Lord I ask that someone today who is barren because they have not given their life to You would accept You today as their Lord and Savior allowing You to fill their life with Your spring of salvation.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen
