Philippians 4:6

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America or ADAA, in the US there are over 40 million adults and over 4 million children ages 3-17 diagnosed with anxiety, an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worry, fear, and physical changes. Of course, these numbers are sure to be higher because the statistics don’t capture those adults and children who are undiagnosed. Globally, the number of adults diagnosed with anxiety increases to over 280 million.

Anxiety is usually accompanied by recurring, unpleasant thoughts. The thoughts may be associated with something that has actually happened or is anticipated or feared to happen. In either case, anxiety can lead to manifestations of real physical changes such as rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, panic disorders, digestive problems, acute and chronic pain, and a host of other problems and disorders. In fact, anxiety is linked to several disorders, one being heart disease. And with the problems of the world growing in number and severity, anxiety is predicted to increase before any significant decrease.

But thank God for Jesus, Who gives us the victory over anxiety. The Lord has already conquered what so many are trying to fight. He wants us to truly lay all our cares at His feet and leave them there with full assurance that as long as we have Him, we don’t have to be anxious about anything.

When those intrusive thoughts appear, give them to Jesus. And it doesn’t have to be a one and done. Anxious thoughts and feelings of anxiety may come up many times in one day. Give them to God as many times as they come up, saying "God it’s me again". God understands.

When a person has a disorder like blood pressure or diabetes, there is continued support and intercessory prayer for God’s healing, no matter how long the healing takes. But when a person suffers from anxiety, depression, or any other disorder associated with mental health, people are quick to say "What’s wrong with you? There is no way you should still be dealing with anxiety if you really trust God". But what gets overlooked is that we are not made up of neat little compartments. Each part of us is connected to the other part and each part of us is connected to the whole. So anxiety is connected to the physical, spiritual, mental, and environmental because it’s connected to the people and things around us. When we understand that, we began to understand more and more just how much we need God to combat the crippling disorder of anxiety. Only God can battle all the factors associated with anxiety. Only God can bring about true healing and peace.

Allow God to heal you of anxiety. Keep turning to Him no matter how many times you need to give Him your burdens. At the very first sign of anxiety, call on Jesus, turn to His word, pray, talk to Him, and listen for His voice. Do this as often as you need. You cannot overburden God. Be patient and cherish getting closer to Him and growing stronger in the process. Claim in the mighty name of Jesus that God will heal you of anxiety and just continue to thank Him in faith for your healing.

Prayer:

Dear Father God,

Thank You Lord for Your healing power. Thank You Lord for the endless opportunities to bring our burdens to You. You are God Almighty and Your patience, Your love, Your aid in times of need has no limits. Lord I pray for all those who suffer from anxiety, both diagnosed and undiagnosed, as Lord some people have not even put it together that they suffer from anxiety. Lord I ask that You heal them, as only You can. Let them know that You are the master of even anxiety. I pray peace over their situation. I pray deliverance from worry, fear, and panic attacks. Lord I pray that they would turn to You for complete deliverance and healing of this attack on their mind, body, spirit, and soul. And Lord I pray that someone that hears this message, even if they feel it’s not for them, that they would pray for someone in their life that they know who suffers from anxiety and pass this message along. Father God, I give You all the glory, honor, and praise for Your mighty healing power.

In Jesus most holy and precious name I pray,

Amen
