Giving God Gratitude for the Small Things

People often associate gratitude, significance, and happiness with big things, such as their job, home, or status in life, while they hardly take notice of the smaller things, such as the birds gleefully chirping outside their window or the hue of fall colors on the trees. It’s actually being thankful for the small things in life that draw us even closer to God. It takes much more effort and focus to see something small than something large. In fact, some things are so small to see with the human eye, that they need magnification to view all of the intricate details. Today, put your effort into noticing the small things in your life and give God thanks for these things, even down to the grain of salt in your food. Allow the Holy Spirit to magnify Your vision to to see the intricate details. Giving gratitude for the small things will open up your awareness to God’s attention to even the smallest detail of your life and give you newfound joy.

Prayer:

Dear Father God,

Thank You Lord for the small things in life. You are a God of detail, taking care of every single intricate detail of my life. Lord please help me to take notice of and appreciate more the small things in life, which is part of Your divine handiwork. I know that so many people are not able to appreciate and give You thanks for the small things today, such as the array of beautiful fall colors on the trees, because they have passed on, or are in a hospital bed too sick to notice. Lord,I give gratitude to You today for the small things in my life, which draw me even closer to You.
