Many people around the world just celebrated the best gift there ever was or ever will be, the gift of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Jesus the Savior, the only Savior, the One who saves. And now many people around the world are celebrating the gift of a new year, another year to give glory to God.
With the gift of this new year, people will make all sorts of plans for their lives. They will make plans for better health, get their body in shape, spend more time with family, have better finances, find a better job. But many people will neglect the most important part of their lives, their spirit. And in doing so, they will neglect to make the most important plan of all, which is to build upon their relationship with the Lord. We should all have as our number one plan for this year, and every year to lift up the name of Jesus, to be led of the Holy Spirit, and to give glory to God through all that we do.
Giving glory to God, means to praise Him, to honor Him, to exalt Him, to worship Him. And to do those things requires letting go of things that will hinder your walk with God. Perhaps you need to let go of sin, especially those hidden sins that you have struggled with for so long. Perhaps you need to let go of stress, anxiety, and/or depression. Perhaps you need to let go of toxic relationships, patterns of negative thoughts and behavior. Perhaps you need to let go of shame and/or guilt from something you did or something someone did to you. Perhaps you need to let go of an addiction. Whatever it is, this can be the year that you are finally free. And it doesn’t even have to take all year. You can make the decision today to let go of things that prevent you from giving glory to God.
Let this be the year for once and for all for you to be free of any and everything that hinders your walk with the Lord. And even if you feel that you have nothing to let go, you can still decide that starting today, this year you will take giving glory to God to a new level. Whether experiencing something good or seemingly bad, let your first response be to give glory to God- with your mouth, with your heart, mind, body, spirit, soul, and with your actions. Praise Him, giving glory to God in the Highest for His saving power, unmatched strength, abundant mercy and grace, and His sacrificial love. Give glory to God.
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord for the gift of another year. Thank You for the opportunity to give glory to You Lord in all that I do. Lord I pray for the strength and will to let go of anything that hinders my walk with You. I pray that my relationship with You will go higher and higher and that I will seek and find new ways to give You glory in this new year. And Lord I pray that You will help me by Your Holy Spirit to give You glory, first, in every situation, not only with my mouth, but with my heart, mind, body, spirit, soul, and actions. Lord with all of me, I joyfully exclaim Glory to God in the highest.
In Jesus most precious and holy name I pray,
Amen
