We live in a right now society. People want everything to happen instantly- they want instant love, instant food, instant fame, success, and money, they want instant results and solutions, instant bodies, and they want God to be an instant God, instantly moving on their time. Wanting instant gratification is steeped in impatience and causes you to settle for less because you make rash decisions, which can sometimes have bad consequences. Being impatient leads to anxiety, which negatively impacts your physical and mental health, and impatience can cause you to step outside the will of God. But when you choose patience over instant gratification, you wait on God in all things. You wait to hear God speak before you move because you know that God’s way is best, and His timing is best. When you choose to wait on God, your faith in God increases, you are drawn closer to Him, your strength and energy is renewed, and with eagle’s wings you soar to heights unknown.
Prayer:
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord for teaching me patience in all things. Lord I know that patience is a virtue that You require, and I ask that You help me to choose divine patience over impatience in all things. I’m learning to take pleasure in waiting on You God because I know that Your way and timing is best. I thank You for renewed strength, energy, and eagle’s wings to soar to heights I can’t even imagine.
