Psalms 86:5

Psalms 116:2
Because He hath inclined His ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.
Almost every parent can remember the excitement they felt from hearing their precious little baby say Ma ma or Da da for the first time. Nowadays, parents even post the experience on social media to share the bliss. And viewers find it just as exciting, even if they themselves have no children.
But hearing a baby say Ma ma and Da da symbolizes so much more than cuteness. Parents understand, my baby knows who I am, my baby is beginning to see me for who I am, the one who loves them, the protector, the #1 go to person, the one to call on when in need, when hungry, or need to be changed, their lifeline. And interestingly babies develop their sense of security in life by the experience of calling on their mommy and/or daddy and having their calls answered.
It is similar with our Heavenly Father, yet different because after all, we’re talking about The Lord. What does it mean to call upon the Lord? To call upon the Lord means to actually call on Him, the way a baby calls their mommy or daddy. It’s fine to speak to the Lord silently. But we should also physically call on His name at times. Say the Lord’s name out loud, adoring Him as with the sweetness of a child, recognizing Him as our loving Heavenly Father, Lord, and Savior.
To call on the name of the Lord means to cry out to Him. It means calling upon Him for anything, anything at all. There’s nothing too big or too small that You can take to the Lord, because you matter to Him. Therefore, if it matters to you, it matters to the Lord. But do know that God does turn away those who call on Him for the wrong reasons, with pride and evil in their hearts, only looking for what they can get from Him, but not willing to give Him their all (Job 35:12, Micah 3:4). So first, ask the Lord for forgiveness of any and everything you’ve done or even think you’ve done that’s not like Him before you call upon Him for anything else.
As a baby, recognizes his or her parent, recognize who the Lord. He is the Lord God Almighty, Creator of all that is, was, and is to come, Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. He is the One who holds the power of life and death in His hands, the one and only Savior, the one who loves matchlessly, forgives completely, blesses abundantly, delivers immediately, heals readily, and restores fully. The One who loves you like no other. He is your lifeline. What an amazing unbelievable privilege it is to be able to call on the Lord, especially when you call on Him with a sincere heart. Call upon the Lord for as long as you live.
Prayer:
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord for being who You are, my Heavenly Father, Lord, and Savior, my Everything. Lord thank You for the opportunity to call on You in every situation. Thank You for always, so tenderly, seeing to all my needs and answering every call for all those who come to You with a sincere, repentant heart. Lord I am secured because of Your attentiveness to my calls. Please help me to call upon You for as long as I live. Lord, my hope lies in You.
In Jesus most holy name I pray. I thank You Lord and I give You all the glory,
Amen
