Psalms 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalms 27:14
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Proverbs 2:6
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding
We live in an ever-changing world. So much so that it almost seems impossible to keep up with the changing times. Things in our lives change by the millisecond. And sometimes it’s difficult to know which way to go and what to do. All of the changes can get to be overwhelming leading to unsurety, stress, and anxiety. God is saying Be still. Wait. Listen to My voice and I will direct You. I will give You guidance, wisdom, understanding and peace.
Being still entails silencing your own voice, as well as the voices of others. Being still requires you to relinquish your perceived control over the situation to God. It means you literally stop your thinking about the situation and turn your mind over to the mind of God. For only when you are still can you be in a position to wait on God.
When you are waiting on transportation, whether that be a car, bus, boat, or plane, if you don’t stop, but instead just keep going, you will miss your ride and not make it to your intended destination. Sure, sometimes your ride is late, and you have to come up with another plan. But God is never late, He’s always on time. So, it’s imperative to wait on God.
But waiting doesn’t mean doing nothing. Waiting is an active process that involves, pausing your plans to wait on God’s plans. Waiting involves praying and talking to God while you are expecting, anticipating, and trusting Him to hear you and guide you. It is when you get still and wait on God that you can listen and hear Him clearly, and be guided by Him with wisdom, understanding and complete peace.
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord for the opportunity to be still, wait on You, and listen to Your voice. I ask that You help me in doing these things that I know will draw me closer to You, give me wisdom, understanding, strength, and complete peace. Lord, I trust You with my whole heart.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen
