2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Timothy 4:4
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Jeremiah 23:1
Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture! saith the LORD.
Psalms 57:5
Be Thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Thy glory be above all the earth.
God has given everyone access to the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. His word is what teaches us, helps to correct us, and helps to keep us. However, there are many false teachers and false teachings in these last and evil days. One such false teaching is surrounding forgiveness. Forgiving others is one of the hallmarks of being in a committed relationship with the Lord, as Jesus says in Matthew 6:14-15: For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
To forgive means to release anger and resentment toward someone for the wrong they have done to you directly, or indirectly by hurting someone you love. It is choosing to move forward by letting go, instead of being held back by focusing on the person and what they did to hurt you. So, it stands to reason that forgiveness is a necessary component in one’s relationship with the Lord. However, there is a misleading notion wrapped up in false teachings that at times people need to forgive God. This illusory idea is because some people have expressed anger and resentment toward God because He didn’t answer their prayers, or “do what they thought He was going to do”, or they were angry at Him because He allowed something to happen or didn’t allow something to happen, which they perceived affected them in a negative way.
These are very dangerous teachings, and they are even being propagated by pastors, evangelists, ministers, preachers, and teachers of the gospel- some who are very prominent and thus have an impact in leading a lot of people astray. These people teach that in order to make peace with God, because of their anger toward Him, they need to forgive God and “let Him off the hook”. They believe it is necessary to forgive God in order to release their grudge against Him.
Let’s be very clear, God can’t be forgiven because God can do no wrong and God can’t be tempted to do any wrong. God is all righteous, He is perfect, God cannot sin. So, make no mistake about it, no matter what anyone is teaching or preaching, you cannot forgive God, because the act of forgiving someone means that person has done something that needs forgiveness. Instead, people that believe this way need to ask God to forgive them for thinking that they can forgive God. They need to ask God to forgive them for losing sight of the fact that He is GOD Almighty, I AM that I AM. He cannot be put into the same category as others. He stands apart. He stands alone. He stands matchless, incomparable, unequaled to any and all others. To say that one can forgive God, is the same as putting Him on the same level as a mere man, showing an utter disrespect and lack of knowledge for God and His Supreme nature. He is the Potter and we are the clay.
After all that Job went through, losing his health, his family, his wealth, his friends, basically everything, he said about God in Job 13:15 Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him… While some people may get angry with God for various reasons, it’s imperative to ask God’s forgiveness for becoming angry with Him in not trusting His way as being the best way and His timing to be the best timing. God is omniscient- He knows all things, and He is omnipotent, He is in control of all things, as such, He deserves nothing but all the glory, praise, and thanks, always, in all things.
Please join me in this prayer:
Dear Father God,
Thank You Lord for Your word that teaches us just who You are- the Lord God Almighty, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Lord the enemy’s plan is to work through others to diminish Your supremeness, Your holiness, Your divine nature. But Lord we know that the enemy will never prevail against You. Lord, we pray for all those who are falsely teaching and preaching that they can forgive You or that You need to be forgiven for anything. And Lord we pray for any that have been led astray with these false teachings. Lord, we pray for them, and for all, that You would bless with an increase in spiritual discernment, wisdom, and knowledge, as Lord You are all holy, all righteous, all perfect, and all good in all Your ways, and You deserve all the glory due Your holy name. Be Thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Thy glory be above all the earth.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen
